What is Wool Carpet

Wool carpets are a timeless choice that has been a staple in British homes for centuries. Before the advent of central heating, the warmth provided by wool carpets was considered a luxury. Today, wool carpets continue to be a classic feature in interior design, complementing both modern and traditional homes alike.

Wool carpets are crafted from the natural fibres of sheep's fleece, which are carded and spun into yarn. Wool is an ultimate sustainable and renewable resource, and due to its natural origins, wool carpets possess several remarkable properties. They are fire-resistant, provide excellent insulation, and are extremely durable. The fibres maintain their shape even under significant pressure. With proper care, one of the key advantages of wool carpets is their longevity; they can last for decades!

Although wool carpets tend to be more expensive than other types, they are considered a worthwhile investment, as they can outlast their competitors with proper care.

Types of Wool Carpet

Wool carpets come in two types: pure wool and wool blends. High-quality blends typically use an 80/20 ratio of wool to a synthetic material like polypropylene, offering a softer feel or better stain resistance, while cheaper blends usually have a 50/50 ratio.

100% wool carpets are made from pure sheep's wool and are easy to dye, allowing for a wide range of design possibilities.
